Wordful Wednesday: Felt Mascots

My kids are always my motivation in my attitude towards sewing and crafting. The other day, Big E wanted me to get her the Anpanman soft toy - Aikindon-chan, simply because the character is pink in colour. As it is not available in Singapore and I do not want to spend so much $$ to buy from online, I decided to get the Anpanman felt mascot book from Kinokuniya to hand-sew the Aikindon-chan felt doll for her.

It has been a long time that I hand-sew cos usually I will machine sew instead. First of all, I bought the felt clothes from Daiso. I almost bought all the colours available as I knew Big E will requested for other characters from the Anpanman series.

I traced out the parts using tracing paper and cut them out.

Then, I traced the parts on the felts according to the colours and cut out.

I sewed them out using 1 strand of thread. Some parts, I used handicraft glue to stick together. After that, I inserted the polyester fillings to give a 3-D effect.

Here is the Aikindon-chan that I …

October ATC - Sneak

It is another month of artistic trading card submission! I am the host for October. I looked at the materials I have in my room and decided to set the theme, Ribbon for the members.

I have received the majority of the cards. They were done beautifully. I can't wait to receive the rest.

I love flowers and like to make them. I added 7mm half pearl on top to give a 3 dimensional.

What craftwork have you been doing last week?

September ATC Group Reveal

What a cool morning. Love it to the max! Plus tomorrow will be a public holiday. Feeling rejuvenate!
(Am I just kidding myself? There is no end in the things I have to do at home with two kids.)

Whatever! But at least, my husband can help around in the house.

Btw, here are the September ATC from the group I received. They are so nice.

I will be hosting the October ATC swap. Sneak will be revealed soon.

September ATC - Reveal

It has been a busy month so far. Before I realised, it is going to be mid-month. I received my September ATC from hostess Jie Ying and I love the cards I received.

The theme was cartoon characters and I used my new Decorno stamp from Disney this time.

Used the thin wafer die from KCK for the frame. My daughter helped me to remove the "extras".

Stick them up on the cardstock.

Here is my September ATC. The I LOVE stamp is from Technique Tuesday stamp.

Creativity 521: Kid's Craft - Painting Eggs

Today, I want to share with you what I found and did with my daughter last week. We chanced upon a bag of plastic eggs in one of the shop at Chinatown. Spontaneously, the painting of eggs came into my mind. Well, it is not Easter Day. But nevertheless, she never painted on eggs before. She was so excited and carried the eggs all the way home.

We used the water colour paints bought from Popular bookshop.

The good thing about drawing on the plastic eggs is that if she made a mistake, I can wash away, clean with water and wipe with cloth. Sounds good!

Then, we use the leftover threads and felt from the Finger Puppets craft that we did. I love to recycle leftovers or things that I can find at home. I cut the felt and/or thread to make the hair.

Finally, the eggs are ready. Aren't they cute?

One thing I realise I can't dictate when and how my daughter wants to paint or do things. If her interest died down due to delay, she will not want to do that "thing" till she wants t…

Life of Mum: Creativity Never Stops Functioning in My Daydreaming

I am an avid reader of GingerbreadMum and chanced upon a new mummy linky that she has created for one whole year, starting today. As a great fan of hers, I decided to support her on the first day of launch.

For a start, I am not going to tell a long story of my typical day, which you might get bored with. The waking up, the rushing for school, meals, naptimes (screaming and constant nagging), bathtimes, reading, housechore (laundry is a MUST for everyday, but folding of clothes is not until the mountain is formed), blah blah. I dont have the pictures to share the above yet. So, let's skip first. :p

[PS, Big E is running high on the linky icon while I typed this. She kept pointing and say out "Mama" lots of times.]

I applaud myself and mamas out there, especially those I saw in the Homelearning group who are so creative in developing kid's craft and even homelearning tools and materials for their children. I am thankfully that I can learn from them and hope…
